What an ADORABLE dress! I think I'll make one NOW for the granddaughter I'll have ONE day :O)
Usually I'm a procrastinator - but this pattern warrants better treatment than that! Thanks for sharing!

Tora said...

Thank you, Rhonda! I hope you'll enjoy knitting this dress. I did!

Tora said...

Mette said...

Hvor er den sød, Tora. Skøn farve! Rigtig god weekend.

Tora said...

Takk for titten.

Tusind tak for mønstret, du laver mange fine ting.

Tora said...

Takk, takk!

Karina said...

Merete said...

Takk for at du orker å dele mønsteret!

MagFly said...

Takk!

Nydelig kjole du har designet. Heldigvis er min niese fremdeles liten.

Anne-Ruth said...

Tora said...

Takk, Anne-Ruth!

Hilde C. said...

Fortsatt god pinse :-)

Merete said...

jennijen said...

do you have any advice for perhaps knitting this in a heavier wieght yarn in a bigger size, like for a 2 year old? thanks!

Tora said...

Well, in my opinion, garments like this one shouldn't be made out of too heavy yarn, since they most likely will be worn indoors.

But you would probably make the dress fit your two year old by working size 1yr with a sport weigth yarn. And this yarn wouldn't be too heavy (warm) either.

Good luck!

jennijen said...

thanks! i'm thinking about using a cotton blend yarn that knits to about 24 st/inch, so it ought to still be pretty light wiehgt. it had better be, since i live in texas!= )

I love the dress I'm going to make one for my sister's niece she just turned 1 and is in sizes 12mos. Thank you so much for posting this dress.

I love this pattern. I just finished making the dress, and am excited to make more of your patterns. I am so impressed with your designs thank you for sharing them.

Rachel said...

Hi Tora,

Your dress pattern is lovely. Just what I was looking for. I've been searching for a baby dress pattern, but most aren't particularly contemporary. This is just gorgeous!

Can I just check - do I need circular knitting needles to knit this pattern or will normal straight ones work?

Rachel

Tora said...

Thank you, crazyangle, beth and rachel - and beth, your version is lovely! I like the color combo!

As for the straight/circular question, the pattern is written for working in the round, so you'll need either one circular or both straight needles before the joining, then dpns for the working in the round. I would definitely recommend a circular (short one) for this project.

Nyyyydelig mønster! :)

Tora said...

Tora said...

Thank you all once again for the lovely comments!

Og Hanne, mål fra oppleggskanten :-) Lykke til!

EliseH said...

Veldig herlig!

Tora said...

This dress is gorgeous and I'm excited to be making it for my first baby - like many others here. I'm making the 12 mo. size and I'm curious if there is an small error in the pattern.

Granted, I'm not the best with math, but... when working the second set of increases after the join (rows 29-64 for the 12 mo size) I THINK I'm supposed to end up with 231 sts, not 230 as the pattern states.

I started with 135 sts at the end of the first set of increases. I add 8 sts per increase row 12 times total, that makes 231 sts.

I feel like I must be missing something since no one else has mentioned having a similar problem. Any help you can offer would be great! I love your design style! I also purchased the Magda pattern from your site and am looking forward to making that s well!

Tora said...

Elise, you'll simply have to re-read the pattern. You're supposed to knit two sts together at the joint, then there will be 1 st less. Have fun knitting!

Elise said...

Hmmm. I did do that. I must have inadvertently added one elsewhere or something.

Regardless, it is a beautiful pattern and I'm enjoying knitting it! Thank you!

Thank you for this beautiful pattern! I knitted the dress for a friend's baby in rainbow cotton and its gorgeous. Also, I can now do Old Norwegian cast on (after watching several youtube videos) which I had never heard of before but really does give a good stretchy edge. So thanks very much for sharing your creativity and hard work.
